Even better than a photo!
A portrait looks like your pet, but has something more. The expression and character of your pet is captured on canvas or paper. All my portraits are made with care and great attention to detail to express the character of your pet in a way that only a real animal lover can accomplish.

The oil paintings are on high-quality linen, with sturdy clear-pine stretchers. Linen has a more organic feel than cheaper synthetic canvas, and maintains its flexibility better. Good stretchers mean the painting will not warp. The paints are also high-grade; this means more depth and body of color.

A pastel portrait is a more informal alternative. While pastels must always be framed with glass to protect the surface (frame not included), when properly protected a well-made portrait can last hundreds of years! All my pastel portraits are drawn on acid-free paper, to minimize paper aging. The colors are pure pigment, so they do not change with time.

For those who like black and white, a charcoal portrait is a classic solution. My charcoal portraits are drawn on grey paper (acid-free, of course) with charcoal, and highlights and middle tones drawn with grey and white pastels for added depth. As with pastels, a charcoal drawing must be framed with glass.
